Supporting the cause for Cawes on Bowen Island

We are very excited to announce our second annual Musical Event and Silent Auction fundraiser: Be'Cawes We Care!

The event will be held on September 21, 2013 at The Legion and will include the wrap up of our summer long on-line
silent auction, a 50/50 draw, nibblies, and liquid refreshments...and (most important) fantastic entertainment.

Our main feature: East Coast Celtic band, Lorne Warr and The Streels. Lorne is a resident Bowen Islander but he is and his band are known far and wide and all across Canada for their feet tapping, hand clapping, heart lifting musical entertainment. Also featured: Bowen's own Deer in the Headlights who will open the night and get the party started!

MC/Auctioneer, Graham Ritchie, will be on hand to entertain us while we make our bids. Even if you lose the bid, we guarantee you will have a grin on your face!

Doors Open 7:00 pm to allow early browsing of auction items. Concert begins 8:00 pm.

The event is of course in celebration of Bowen's furry and feathered friends, and provides a fun, musical way to
raise funds for a great "cawes".

Have a great summer and hope to see you at the concert in September!

CAWES on Bowen Island

There is no SPCA or wildlife rescue group on our island. Founded in 2000, CAWES manages to fulfill a much needed animal advocacy service to our community by…

Controlling the overpopulation of felines through sterilization.
Minimizing impact on wildlife by feeding abandoned cats.
Offering ongoing support, consolation, and advice.
Educating in the care and welfare of pets and wildlife.
Providing financial and moral support to pet owners.
Reuniting lost pets with their families.
Reducing the number of stray animals thru' foster and adoption.
Helping sustain our natural environment thru' wildlife rescue.

These exotic looking twins are already 12 weeks old. Wouldn't you like to meet them?

Their' individual personalities are definitely beginning to come out. Tommy is more rambunctious like a typical boy...but usually waits for his sister to make the first move when it comes to encountering strangers or new situations. Trixie is much more adventurous and she is also a lap cat with a huge purr for such a little thing. She will climb onto a lap whenever the opportunity arises. Her brother will hear her purring and want to be picked up to join her. Unfortunately, my lap isn't that big and they are growing fast!

Their origins are also beginning to show. Tommy is definitely going to be a black short haired adult, but he has some subtle stripes and spots on his back and sides that might get stronger as he gets older. Along with his larger than usual ears and his long body, I think that he could very well have some Bengal or at least BengalX in his genes. He gets his blackness from his mom.Trixie's coat is slightly fluffier but not by much. She has dark brown undertones in her coat, as well as those subtle patterns. Like her brother, she has a long body and tail. They seem tall for their age. Their new toy is a rolled up pair of small tennis socks :-)

Please come and meet the twins. Contact cawes@bowenisland.com or call 604-947-0032.
